The Ghent Workgroup announces that a new landing page for Commercial Print has been created. The landing page for Commercial Print is similar in structure to the existing pages for Sign & Display, Digital Print and Packaging.
The new website provides links to
- Settings for various applications
- Webinar recording
- PDF/X Workflow Guide (based on the PDFX-ready guideline)
- Ghent PDF Outpuit Suite
- Technical specifications of the GWG
The information is currently only available in English. But we are currently discussing translations into different languages…
The Ghent Workgroup (GWG) released an innovative specification to address the Sign & Display segment (aka Large Format Printing (LFP). Given the diversity within this segment, the new specification incorporates the notion of viewing distance and scaling factor. This allows having one specification, but still to address the big differences in printing techniques within typical sign & display jobs.
I have now updated PDFX-ready’s color settings, export settings, preflight profiles and the corresponding recipes in French to the same level as in German:
Global Graphics has updated their popular «Do PDF/VT Right™» guide.
The english publication offers a good overview on PDF/VT and tells what is necessary for an efficent use of this standard.
In addition to a general overhaul there is a section on the new ISO 21812 standard that allows workflow controls to be added to PDF files.
The new edition also contains notes on Harlequin-specific hints, to get even more speed out of your DFE if you are a Harlequin user.
