Recently I have published a warning regarding the use OpenType SVG fonts in Adobe InDesign CC2019 for PDFs for print production.
In the meantime, the manufacturers of the most important preflight tools have reacted and included corresponding functions in the latest versions of their products:
- In Enfocus PitStop 2019, the Adobe workaround has been included. This avoids the irritating error messages.
- In the Callas pdfToolbox 10.2 there are new checks for detecting SVG fonts (colored Type 3 fonts) and thus can convert them using the fixup Fonts to outlines which was extended in version 10.2 for SVG fonts.
Nevertheless, I stick to the warning regarding the use of OpenType SVG fonts, as I assume that not all printers are able or willing to make these corrections.
