Solution for PDF/X export problem
in Adobe InDesign CC 2019

In some situations the export options for PDF/X-3 and PDF/X-4 in InDesign CC2019 (and also older versions) are no longer active (gray) and the color profiles for output cannot be changed anymore. Therefore, it’s no longer possible to export PDF/X-4 files!

It seems the reason are problems with the synchronizing color settings using Adobe Bridge CC2019.

Here is the remedy:

  1. Close all Adobe applications (important!)
  2. Delete the file ACEConfigCache2.lst in the (hidden) directory
    /Users/”yourusername”/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Color
(open in Finder using Go > Go to Folder… or CMD+SHIFT+G)
  3. New synchronization of the color settings in Adobe Bridge CC2019

After a re-start of InDesign the export options for PDF/X-3 and PDF/X-4 are back and the synchronization of the color settings are working again! 🙂

Update: According to Adobe sources the update to InDesign 14.0.1 releasd Nov. 19th, 2018 should also solve this problem.
